Frequently Asked Questions

How do I know what positions are open?

With the exception of the Local Chapter President position, all positions should be considered open.

I’m new to the staging industry, should I get involved in leadership?

Absolutely!! Stagers typically come to our industry with various backgrounds, skill sets and leadership qualities. These diverse backgrounds are a huge asset to any association. Leadership skills do not always equal ‘years in business’. Being involved with RESA opens many opportunities for leadership and networking. There are approximately fifty local chapters of RESA in the US and Canada with local leadership opportunities. RESA's State Presidents provide oversight, mentorship and target opportunities for growth. RESA has advisory committees that support the National Board and give members an avenue to help shape the industry and direction of the association. Volunteerism and networking are a great way to grow and improve your industry.

If I’d like to serve in my current position again, what should I do?

Local positions are one-year terms and have a term limit of 2 years max. Members who wish to serve a 2nd year must be approved by HQ. Please make sure to complete the candidacy submission form by the deadline.

Do I need to be a RESA member in order to serve in Leadership?

In order to serve in RESA Leadership you must have a current membership, as it is a RESA member benefit.

Why are some positions not voted by the members?

A vote is required when there are multiple people who requested to serve in the same position.

How does our current chapter BOD know if candidates have submitted for a board position with our chapter?

Chapter boards will be notified prior to the deadline if there are vacancies for any positions.

Will there be training available for my position?

Yes, there will be orientations for all new leaders. The Leadership Guide is a resource for all leaders and there is a list of Chapter Tools on the RESA website (members only section - MORA) for Chapter Tools specific to their board positions. If you need more assistance, please don’t hesitate to contact RESAChapters@RESA-hq.org. We are more than happy to walk you through any questions.

Is RESA Leadership time consuming?

Though there is a time commitment involved, it is no different from any other goal you set to achieve - the more you put into it, the more you get back. If you work smarter (plan ahead) - not harder (don’t wait until the last minute) and focus on functioning as a team (stay in your own lane, keep your commitments, communicate effectively, be nice, encourage each other) we are sure you will find being involved in leadership is very rewarding! You will learn some new skills that can be applied to other areas of your life and you will more than likely establish some new friends too.

Who should I talk to if I want more information?

Please feel free to contact RESAChapters@RESA-hq.org for more information.
